Eclipse researchers, designers and engineers have direct experience in developing products that meet ruggedization requirements to include: NEMA, IP, MIL STD's and Intrinsic Safety. Our inherent knowledge in material sciences and manufacturing help get your product through certification and on the market.
To develop an ergonomically optimized instrument for measuring and analyzing the metallic composition of target materials. Reconfiguration and integration of Bruker new x-ray technology. Reduce the overall weight by 30%; while dissipating heat from the x-ray engine. The enclosure required an IP rating of 62, while maintaining easy access and change for the battery.
SolutionThe HH device will be frequently used for repeated measurement tasks over long periods of time in scrap yards, port inspection facilities, and environments exposed to dust and weather. Eclipse began by understanding the Use Experience. Designers and engineers lived a day in the life of users within the use environment. The Eclipse design team sought to improve the weight, size, ruggedness, maneuverability, and UI of a hand-held product that performs in a variety of locations.
The Eclipse design team developed a visual appearance reflecting a technologically advanced product that is prepared to perform in rugged environments. The new design incorporates and enhances overall form factor with co-molded touch points, better weight distribution with improved battery access, UI screen, and internal component integration.
Thermo Electron tasked Eclipse with the research and design of their new toxic vapor analyzer to better fit their target market requirements.
Solution
Eclipse conducted extensive research and helped Thermo develop not only a new product but a new holistic approach to their client's workflow needs.
Eclipse helped Thermo develop a fully ruggedized and integrated system for field testing that included many radical innovations such as the 360 degree visible feedback ring and the modular backpack system.
The entire research, design, and development process was completed in under 12 months for the successful launch of the new product that is exceeding all parties' expectations.
Agilent challenged Eclipse to design and develop a new rugged portable spectrum and sweep analyzer that will fit the needs and requirements of a demanding broadband cable industry. Eclipse responded to the challenge with an extensive study of the visual cues and functional details that will not only relay, but perform to the rugged standards set forth by Agilent.
“The CaLan Product Line fully complements that of Sunrise Telecom Broadband and will provide new opportunities in the deployment and maintenance of both current and next generation services.
Enterasys, formerly Cabletron, approached Eclipse Product Development with an objective to design, engineer, and manufacture in a 4 month window. In doing so, the Industrial Design team was directed to follow an established visual language created in the RoamAboutTM graphics and previous product. This visual language is a play on the radio waves from a central point concept. The major mechanical engineering challenge was to design and develop a heat sink to draw out heat from very hot components.
RoamAboutTM has been touted as “Best of Breed” from one of the industry’s premier networking publications, Internet Week.
eCopy needed an ergonomic, free standing work station to interface with their technology for connecting digital copiers and scanners to email systems and networked applications for distribution and management of scanned material.
The ScanStation "nests" beside or behind the copier to meet typically limited copy room space requirements.
Due to its adjustable construction, the solution accommodates a wide variety of office machines without the need for model specific brackets or fittings. The ScanStation screen and keyboard can be easily\_positioned right, left, forward, back, or tilted as necessary to provide ergonomic access in the widest range of end user situations.
With its distributor ordering, installation, and training significantly simplified, eCopy was able to improve overall customer satisfaction and achieve double digit top line growth
