At Eclipse we have over 18 years of experience developing laboratory solutions for research, testing, and quality control applications. Our researchers, designers, and engineers have first-hand experience within the biosciences, environmental chemistry, food safety, and veterinary categories.
Starting with a proof-of-principle demonstration device, Claros asked Eclipse to develop a CLIA waived whole-blood analyzer and disposable cassette that could be used accurately in a urological office by nursing staff and medical laboratory technicians without the need for specific training or certification.
SolutionEclipse conducted extensive customer research (VOC) to determine user requirements and understand the use environment. Using client provided micro fluidics technology, Eclipse developed a cost effective PSA analyzer design solution that is safe, reliable, and easy to use; including an intuitive touch screen user interface.
The device enables urology offices to serve patients more quickly and conveniently while capturing a new revenue stream.
IDEXX asked Eclipse to develop a new design language for a family of instruments and devices that would enter the marketplace within a 1-3 year span. LaserCyte needed to fit naturally into a laboratory environment, be simple and intuitive, and most importantly, establish a fresh look for an industry leader.
SolutionUsing color cues, intuitive design features, and LED feedback, Eclipse made the instrument easy to understand and operate. The contoured design language portrayed an instrument that was clean, robust, and of a perceived elevated value. As a result, Eclipse helped IDEXX to establish a corporate identity for subsequent instruments and devices.
Biowave approached Eclipse with nothing but the basic internal architecture and the goal to have their pain therapy device in the hands of a major athlete within a year. Eclipse took on the challenge of creating a safe, and easy-to-use pain therapy device for Biowave’s target market: athletes in recovery.
Biowave PRO’s innovation lies in its design details. We designed a simple and clean user interface with generously sized buttons for intuitive interactions. The recessed keypad prevents inadvertent button actuation and the textured rubber side bumpers protect Biowave PRO when dropped. The most ingenious innovation to keep users safe - creating connector interference geometry to keep users from plugging the power and electrode cords simultaneously. The Biowave PRO has been used by NY Giant pro-football players and Boston Celtics basketball stars to relieve the chronic pain faced by many eliet athaletes
IDEXX realized that their current image reader technology was becoming obsolete. Concurrently, FDA was adding new, stricter requirements on the testing of milk products. Time was becoming a factor, and IDEXX knew their best chance of hitting this critical timeline was to outsource the product development to Eclipse.
In a 4 month development cycle, Eclipse created an Industrial Design aesthetic appropriate for the milk processing market. Eclipse also provided detailed engineering data and managed the software/electronics development to ensure successful scheduled completion and new technology introduction for IDEXX.
