Overview of Medical

> Eclipse was established in 1994 by a medical product designer and plastics engineer. Our business has been rooted in medical product development from day one. Eclipse staff members have thousands of hours of direct experience in the OR, clinical, and POC environments. Several of our staff members have over 20 years experience solving device, equipment and medical disposable design challenges.

Areas of Expertise

  • Hand Held Surgical Tools
  • Usability Testing & Ergonomc Evaluation
  • Turn Key Regulatory Support for 510(K) Submission
  • FDA/Regulatory Compliance (Development & Evaluation)
  • V&V Testing and Evaluation
  • Risk Analysis (FMEA, FTA, Design Reviews)
  • Alpha Prototypes Device Fabrication with QC

Solving Problems

    Challenge

The SymphonyTM tCGM System is a revolutionary non-invasive, wireless, transdermal continuous glucose monitoring (tCGM) system for use in hospital critical care units and for people with diabetes. The Symphony system consists of a wireless monitor, a skin preparation system, and a disposable wireless sensor system.

    Solution

Eclipse was chosen as Echo Therapeutics design partner for the development of the Symphony system and in that capacity, provided core technology productization, industrial design, Graphic User Interface (GUI) design, and usability testing.

    • In addition to the monitor enclosures, Eclipse designed and engineered a shielded wipe connector to attach the disposable array to the reusable wire leads. Thumbnail

In addition to the monitor enclosures, Eclipse designed and engineered a shielded wipe connector to attach the disposable array to the reusable wire leads.

    Challenge

Physiometrix turned to Eclipse Product Development for the development of their PSA 5000 depth of anesthesia monitor and patient array system because of Eclipse’s inherent knowledge of the design control process, inherent knowledge of the operating room environment, and agency requirements of monitoring equipment.

    Solution

Eclipse created a design language that differentiates the PSA 5000 from other equipment in the operating room theatre. Features such as an integrated handle, inherent pole mount, and unique keypad enhance the end user experience while increasing the perceived values of the monitor.

Other Great Results

  • Embol-X - Aortic Blood Filter

    Embol-X - Aortic Blood Filter

The Embol-X Aortic Block is a revolutionary method of trapping embolic plaque after open heart surgery, vastly reducing the risk of postoperative stroke.

Working with a team of independent neurologists and cardiologists, Eclipse successfully designed and developed the device in less than 4 months to help launch the first round of funding in this successful medical start-up.

6 utility patents were awarded to Eclipse for the design of this innovative, life saving device.

  • Fluidsense - Infusion Pump

    Fluidsense - Infusion Pump

Fluidsense was a new player in the highly competitive world of medical product manufacturers. Acting as a true design partner, Eclipse played a vital role in FluidSense's development and growth as a company.

The Fluidsense Infusion Pump is a small, lightweight, battery operated device used in all general infusion therapy, including patient controlled analgesia.

The Fluidsense Infusion Pump was featured in the “Inventions 2000” issue of Time Magazine.

  • Aspect Medical - Anesthesia Monitor

    Aspect Medical - Anesthesia Monitor

Simple, easy-to-use, and first on the market.

Eclipse Product Development helped to introduce this innovative monitoring technology which simply takes the guesswork out of the critical life sustaining practice of anesthesiology.
