As technology moves away from controlled environments with skilled, trained users, Eclipse has helped our clients bridge the gap with product solutions for the home use consumer environment. Our approach begins with immersing ourselves in the consumer environment and user experience to provide insight for meaningful problem solving. We develop things that are safe, intuitive, pleasing to experience, and easy to make.
The average braces wearer will have a mouth full of metal for 1-3 years that often negatively affects diet, participatory activities, and self-image. The team at OrthoAccel developed an electronic mouth piece that uses almost imperceptible vibrations to encourage teeth to shift, so braces work faster and more comfortably. The initial version worked well, but it needed the expertise of the Eclipse team to take the AcceleDent Optima product and user experience to the next level.
SolutionThe AcceleDent Optima is the culmination of seamless technology integration and dedication to a thoughtful user experience. By invoking a User-Centered Design Process, Eclipse delivered a safe, effective, and intuitive device with a comprehensive suite of technology-driven features. When used with braces or aligners, AcceleDent is clinically proven to move teeth up to 50% faster. AcceleDent is also clinically proven to reduce the pain and discomfort associated with braces and aligners by up to 71%
Eclipse was challenged to develop a stable turbine that would sufficiently light an LED without degrading a shower’s flow rate. With its feasibility established, Eclipse embarked on a project to develop an attractive, easy to install, water powered light.
SolutionUser research, together with low-cost manufacturing considerations, gravitated the design direction towards a “minimal elegance.” Eclipse’s engineering staff successfully designed a compact, turbine driven generator to produce power with minimal vibration and pressure loss. SLA and FDM prototypes were built allowing us to test, and make significant improvements to, performance and overall cost. The final mechanical and electrical designs were transferred to Osram’s offshore manufacturing vendor. Today, the successful Ecolight is available at major home improvement stores.
Brine approached Eclipse to create a Pro/ENGINEER database for their new lacrosse head design. The complicated design required advanced surfacing skills that were far beyond the abilities of even the most talented ProE user.
Working from conceptual 2D sketches, Eclipse was able to reproduce the complex 3D surface geometry in under Brine’s very tight time frame of two weeks. Brine and Eclipse have worked as partners to refine our development process and increase our speed market.
